Man suspected of shooting at cop arrested in Mexico

A gang member suspected of shooting at a Sheriff’s deputy in Coachella has been captured in Mexico.

Gildardo Davila Jr., 27, was captured on Thursday by police in Mexico and will be handed over to local authorities, reports the Desert Sun. La Cronica, a Mexican newspaper, reported that Davila was caught while walking on a Mexicali street.

Davila is accused of shooting a deputy multiple times after fleeing from his vehicle on May 25. The deputy suffered serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

Davila has been charged with attempted murder. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has scheduled a press conference for Friday morning at 10 am.
