Man suspected of multiple Coachella Valley burglaries, vehicle thefts arrested

A Thousand Palms man was arrested on Friday in connection to several burglaries and vehicle thefts in the Coachella Valley.

The Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit investigated the incidents which were reported throughout the Coachella Valley over the past several weeks. The unit identified Tre Michael Sutherland, 25 years old, from Thousand Palms, as a suspect for his involvement in the crimes, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

At noon on Friday, police located and arrested Sutherland on Varner Road, in Thousand Palms. During his arrest, police say Sutherland was in possession of a stolen loaded .45 caliber Springfield XDS handgun, ammunition, stolen property, narcotics, paraphernalia, and burglary tools.

Sutherland also had a warrant for his arrest in Riverside County for illegal controlled substances. Police say he also had a Felony Warrant for Evading a Peace Officer out of the State of Washington.

Sutherland, who is a convicted felon, was booked in the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
