Man in cowboy hat arrested for burglary in Desert Hot Springs

A man sporting a cowboy hat who police say was seen on video surveillance attempting to break into a home in Desert Hot Springs on Sunday morning was arrested.

According to the DHS Police Department, a man wearing a cowboy hat was seen on camera trying to break into a residence on Verbena Drive. When officers arrived, they say they spotted a man fitting the description of the suspect crawling out of a window of the residence. The suspect then went back into the residence and refused to come out.

The suspect eventually crawled out of a living room window and ran through the desert area in an attempt to flee the scene, but he was detained after a short pursuit.

55-year old Gregory Gaw, was arrested for residential burglary.
