When police were called to a Palm Springs home on Monday, the man who opened the door to greet them told the cops that he was the homeowner’s son checking on the property – which would have been believable if: a) one of the home’s windows wasn’t smashed out, b) the homeowner hadn’t denied knowing him, and c) he did not have stolen items in his pocket. A man who allegedly broke into a Palm Springs rental home today was arrested after telling police that he was the homeowner’s son and was only checking up on the property.

Danny Cater, 36, was arrested shortly after 12 pm at the house on Rodeo Road, according to KMIR. He was found to also had active warrants out for his arrest.

He was arrested for residential burglary and for the outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
