The Living Desert is reopening their hiking trails this weekend

(The Living Desert)

Well kids, we made it through summer and now things are getting back to normal in the Coachella Valley and that includes the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens returning to regular hours and reopening their cool hiking trails.

The park will open daily from 9 am (7 am for members) to 5 pm starting Sunday, October 1. In addition to the new hours, the Palm Desert park’s nature preserve hiking trails also will reopen to zoo guests and members. The trails include a quarter-mile long loop, a longer middle loop, and a more advance three and a half mile trail which are accessible with paid admission.

It looks like this weekend is going to be a little warmer than last weekend, so you might want to get out there early or maybe just wait a few weeks if you plan on getting your hike on. Also, if you go, be sure to wear the right footwear, don’t be a jerk, and bring lots of water.

This Sunday, the Living Desert will also host a Year of the Giraffe Launch party from 9 am to 1pm that will feature giraffe-themed activities, all day giraffe feeding, behind-the-scenes tours and all things giraffe.

Join us next Sunday as we celebrate and kick-off the #YearoftheGiraffe with an exciting day of giraffe activities. #saveTheGiraffe
