A list of all the awesome stores giving employees Thanksgiving off

By: Mike Mozart

Thanksgiving is almost here which means family, turkey, football, and, for many, a day off of work. But, since capitalism gotta be capitalism, the good old days of scarfing your face all day Thursday then going out to spend all your money on Friday are gone – except for employees of a few awesome, heroic stores who have decided to close this Thanksgiving.

BestBlackFriday.com is tracking the store closures. Here are the national chain stores in and around the Coachella Valley that will not be open on Turkey Day:

  • Ace Hardware
  • Burlington
  • Cost Plus World Market
  • Costco
  • Craft Warehouse
  • Crate and Barrel
  • DSW – Designer Shoe Warehouse
  • Ethan Allen
  • Guitar Center
  • H&M
  • Harbor Freight
  • Hobby Lobby
  • Home Depot
  • HomeGoods
  • JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores
  • Jos. A. Bank
  • Lowe’s
  • Marshalls
  • Mattress Firm
  • Nordstrom Rack
  • Office Depot and OfficeMax
  • Party City
  • Petco
  • PetSmart
  • Pier 1 Imports
  • Sam’s Club
  • Sprint (Corporate & Dealer Owned Stores; Mall Kiosks May Open)
  • Staples
  • Stein Mart
  • TJ Maxx

It’s nice to see so many on the list.  Considering that most people would probably prefer to do their shopping online than deal with stores anyway, it’s good that at least some stores get it and will be letting employees enjoy their Thanksgiving.
