La Quinta man arrested for allegedly stealing tools, Cadillac from auto dealership

Police arrested a 27-year-old La Quinta man Sunday morning after they say he tried to steal tools and a 2017 Cadillac CTS from an auto dealership.

Police were dispatched to the dealer at 5:39 am after a suspicious persons call, according to KMIR. The reporting party told police that there was a man on the property looking into vehicles.

When deputies arrived, they found a car driving in the parking lot, but unable to get out as the gate was locked, notes KESQ. The suspect was ordered to stop, but at first refused. He eventually stopped the car and was detained.

Investigators determined the dealership had been burglarized and the suspect, Cole Sanders, tried to steal about $15,000 worth of tools and the Caddy, $60,000. He was arrested and booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio.
