Karen Devine and John White seem really excited about the big changes at KESQ

Viewers of KESQ News on Friday night probably weren’t sure if they were watching anĀ  announcement of “exciting news” about a local TV station cutting back on staff or a hostage video as anchors Karen Devine and John White were clearly forced to read about why laying off staff and blowing up an entire TV station is a good thing for the Coachella Valley.


It would have been nice if they had gone “in-depth” to answer why a company would spend a ton of money to buy a TV station only to kill it a few years later and what having less options means for viewers in the Palm Springs media market.

But then, that sounds like the type of story only a station that “stands for you” would fo.
