A Joshua Tree man was arrested Monday night after police say he attempted to punch a deputy who was attempting to stop the man from walking into traffic on Highway 62.

Police were called about a man running in and out of traffic on the highway near Whitefeather Road at about 10:45 pm, notes Z107.7. When officers arrived, they saw the man kicking the traffic control box.

The man then ran back into the highway. An officer ran after him and grabbed the man, who then tried to punch the deputy two times.

A taster was used to take the man into custody.

Ronald Ludwig, 57, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.
