Indio Circle K robbed by armed man in blonde wig

The Circle K on Avenue 42 and Monroe Street was robbed on Monday night by a man carrying a gun and wearing a blonde wig, according to police.

The Indio Police Department told KESQ that the robbery was reported just a few minutes after 8 pm by a man who entered the store with a handgun, confronted the clerk, and demanded money. The man then fled the scene in a black Ford F-150.

The suspect is described as a black male adult wearing a blonde wig, neon green shirt, and blue jeans. The suspect is believed to be about 30-years-old.

Police say a few minutes before the Circle K robbery, someone also in a blonde wig attempted to rob the AM/PM on Varner Road and Washington with a “simulated gun,” then fled in a dark-colored truck.

The suspect’s description in the attempted AM/PM incident matched that of the robbery a few minutes later at Circle K.

Update:  After an investigation, KESQ reports 39-year-old Curtis Dixon was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery.
