Hiker in critical condition after being airlifted from Bump & Grind hiking trail

A hiker is in critical condition after being rescued from the Bump & Grind hiking trail in Palm Desert on Thursday.

First responders were called a little after 11 am to the trail.  Rescuers were able to hike to the patient, who was eventually airlifted off the trail to a nearby ambulance.

A Cal Fire official told KESQ that a female hiker was located “in severe distress” a little more than half-a-mile up the trail.

Temperatures in the Coachella Valley had already reached above 100 degrees as of 11 am. No additional details were available.
