High speed pursuit ends in arrest, Sheriff’s cruiser rolled over

A high speed pursuit that began an Indio left a Sheriff’s cruiser rolled over and the suspect arrested in an Applebee’s parking lot.

The chase began at about 3:45 p.m. when a driver sped away from officers near Dr. Carreon Drive and Highway 111 in Indio, reports KESQ. One deputy was nearly hit as the suspect took off.

The chased reached speeds of over 85 miles per hour, according to the TV station.

The Sheriff’s cruiser crashed and rolled at Miles Avenue and Jefferson Street in Indio during the pursuit, according to the Desert Sun. The officer driving the vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-disclosed injuries.

The chase ended in an Applebee’s parking lot in Palm Desert at Cook Street and Frank Sinatra Drive – where a suspect was taken into custody at about 4:05 p.m.
