A quick thinking 13-year-old boy was able to rescue his little sister from a would-be kidnapper in Lancaster on Saturday morning.

When a man allegedly entered a home’s fenced yard, he asked the 4-year-old girl her name, then grabbed her and began walking away. But, the victim’s older brother was not having it. He grabbed his sister’s arm and yelled for someone to call 911.

The man fled – but, with the help of neighbors, Lancaster police were able to track down the suspect, later identified as 61-year-old Earl Williams – who was arrested and booked on kidnapping charges. The girl was not injured.

Los Angeles County sheriff deputy Mighuel Ruiz spoke to KABC and commended the teen for his actions: “He was definitely quick on his feet. He’s very responsible for his family and obviously his 4-year-old sister. So at this point, he is our hero for today,”
