Driving to Las Vegas can be a drag. It’s long. It’s hot. It’s boring. But, after about 4 hours or so, you are in freakin’ Vegas so who cares? For one guy, getting to Vegas is even worse than you can possibly imagine. Because he is walking there. Now. In the middle of summer!!

Kelly Overton started his trek through the Mojave Desert on July 18 and he expects to end his 190 mile hike in Vegas on Sunday – when one would assume he will jump into a pool and never come out.

Overton is the founder of Mojave Animal Protection (MAP) that seeks to protect wildlife and plants in the Mojave Desert, notes the Desert Sun.

And while the hike seems much more grueling than simply driving out and spending your time guzzling up 5,000 calories at a buffet before losing your paycheck, it does offer a chance to see things others might miss:

You can track the hike here.
