Goldenvoice confirms Coachella website hacked, warns of potential email scams

Goldenvoice, the promoter of the Coachella Music Festival, had its website hacked, according to Billboard. While the hackers did not get access to passwords, the may have obtained names, email, addresses, phone numbers, and birth dates.

The promoter stressed that all “unauthorized third parties” have been blocked from further access, but warned of potential scams:

The promoter then advised Coachella.com account holders to “be aware that you may be targeted by phishing emails sent from people impersonating Coachella personnel. Please remember that Coachella will never solicit personal information or account information from you via email. Please exercise caution if you receive any emails or phone calls that ask for such information, or direct you to web sites where you are asked for personal or financial information.”

Just to be clear, a Coachella.com account is not the same as the account where tickets are purchased.  Those accounts, which would include credit card numbers, were not impacted.

Not all news was bad for Coachella on Tuesday, as the festival announced Lady Gaga would be headlining in place of Beyonce, who recently pulled out of the fest due to her pregnancy.
