It’s going to cool down soon. So maybe we just hold off on hiking until then?

Tragedy struck again this week as two hikers were found dead on local trails. While hiking can be a great way to see some of the most beautiful places on the planet – which we are lucky enough to have right here in and near the Coachella Valley – during the summer, it can be just too dangerous to hit the trails. The temperature will cool down soon enough. No, seriously. It really will. Maybe let’s all just stay off the hiking trails until then?

I know. I know. Getting your cardio in on a treadmill is not nearly as fun – but, that treadmill is probably in an air conditioned gym. Hell bring an iPad with you and watch that Reese Witherspoon hiking movie you have been meaning to see.  In fact, you can even watch Amazon’s whole catalog for free for 30 days with a Amazon Prime Free Trial.  And guess what?  When that 30 days is up, it will probably be nice enough to hike in the morning and at night.  Great timing.

If that doesn’t work for you, maybe try CrossFit, yoga, or whatever the hell Pure Barre is.  I really don’t care.  It’s totally up to you.

Then, when it gets a bit cooler, you can go hike as much as you want because you will be alive – which is an important thing to be if you are looking to get in a good hike in the desert.
