Gang member arrested on drugs, weapons charges in Coachella

A 37-year-old Coachella man was arrested on multiple drugs and weapons charges on Wednesday.

The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted an area check arounf Vista Del Norte and Dillon Road in the city of Coachella about 1 pm, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. During the area check, officers contacted documented gang member and convicted felon, Rudy Ramirez.

Ramirez was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Glock semi-auto handgun and methamphetamine. He also had an active felony warrant for Violation of PRCS. Ramirez was arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Narcotics.

He was booked at the Indio Jail.
