Fire breaks out in Coachella campground

A fire broke out in the campground area of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival early Saturday morning.

Clips on social media show the blaze, with some saying they could hear an explosion prior to seeing the flames.

Twitter user @justxdamian wrote, “the explosion was about 60ft away from our tent… all seriousness this wasn’t a cool thing to wake up to. Took this as we ran away #coachella #fire #explosion”

According to the Evening Standard, an alert was sent out to all those attending Coachella, cautioning them to “stay away” from the shower block.

Campers who had spent the day and night watching Childish Gambino and Kacey Musgraves, were moved away from the the mobile showers area as fire crews arrive a little after 2 am.

By 2:28 am, CalFire had contained the fire:

There were no injuries.

The fest continues on Saturday and Sunday, with performances by Tame Impala, Ariana Grande, Khalid, Kid Cudi, Weezer, Billie Eilish, and more.
