Lowest Gas Prices in the Coachella Valley
The spread between the cheapest pump in the valley and the one at whatever exit you happen to be sitting at can run most of a dollar a gallon. On a full tank, that is lunch. Here is what is reported cheapest right now, valley-wide.

Read the timestamp, not just the price
These are driver-reported prices. The time column matters as much as the number: something reported two hours ago is a fact, something reported last night is a rumor. If the cheapest listing is stale and you are driving twenty minutes for it, take the freshest one instead.
Both membership pumps are in Palm Desert
Costco Gasoline sits at 72800 Dinah Shore Drive and the Sam’s Club fuel station is at 34220 Monterey Avenue — roughly two miles apart, both in Palm Desert, both requiring a card. If you live mid-valley, easy call. If you are out in Indio, Coachella or Desert Hot Springs, do the arithmetic first: a twenty-five-mile round trip eats most of what you just saved, and you will sit in a line to do it.
Do not skip the tribal stations
Agua Caliente Fuel — on Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage and Lawrence Crossley Road in Palm Springs, with more locations announced for Cathedral City and Palm Springs — lands at or near the top of the list above more often than the chains do. Out at the Cabazon exit, the Morongo Travel Center is the same story at freeway scale. Both are worth a look before you assume the station you always use is fine.
Where to fill up before the drive
- Joshua Tree. There is no gas inside the national park. None. Fill up before the entrance station and do not improvise — the route is laid out in Joshua Tree from Indio.
- Las Vegas. Long enough that where you fill actually matters. Check the list above before you leave, because once you are on the 15 you pay whatever the exit charges. Worth a stop anyway: Eddie World in Yermo.
- The Salton Sea and Bombay Beach. Services thin out fast once you are south of Mecca. Top off in Indio or Coachella first, then go — see the Salton Sea guide and Bombay Beach.
- Los Angeles and the coast. Past Cabazon your options get sparse until Beaumont, so decide before the on-ramp rather than on it. More routes in day trips under two hours.
- The airport run. If you are returning a rental to PSP, the stations nearest the airport know exactly what you are. Fill somewhere else on the way in — there is time in the checkout-at-11, flight-at-5 plan.
Why gas here costs what it does
California fuel is expensive everywhere in the state: a cleaner-burning blend nobody else uses, higher taxes, and a refinery system with no slack in it. The valley adds a surcharge of its own. We are a long way from a refinery, and we are a resort corridor — a pump on Highway 111 near the hotels, or at the first exit off the 10, is selling to people who are not from here and are not comparing. Drive four blocks off the tourist path and the number usually moves.
