The organizers of the annual Rich People Prom, aka the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala, have been slowly name dropping some of the big name Hollywood types that those who can afford a ticket will be in the same room with at the January 2nd event in Palm Springs. Here’s a recap.
Allison Janney, Sam Rockwell, Gal Gadot, and Timothée Chalamet have been announced to receive awards for movies that will more than likely not actually be shown at the film festival.
Tickets to the event start at $350 for the back of the house with VIP tickets going for $2,500 and up. The Rich People Prom is made possible thanks in part to a $350,000 donation in materials, supplies, and services from the City of Palm Springs who earlier this year threatened to get rid of many popular services if taxpayers wouldn’t vote for a tax increase.
As for the Hollywood types invited to the event, they can expect some free publicity for their latest movie, yet another statue for their house, and might be inappropriately touched on the red carpet.
It’s always quite a night.
