Elderly driver involved in back-to-back crashes in Cathedral City

An 86-year-old woman was involved in two collisions, moments apart, in Cathedral City Wednesday morning.

The driver, who police say may have been suffering from a medical issue, struck a cyclist on Landau Boulevard and McCallum Way about 9:30 am, according to KMIR. The Honda continued south and soon collided with a vehicle at Ramon Road.

The Honda driver was hospitalized for the medical issue, but did not sustain any injuries. The cyclist was also taken to the hospital.

Both the 86-year-old and cyclist were released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon.  There were no other reported injuries.
