Dirt biker arrested after leading police on 90+ mph chase through Yucca Valley

A Joshua Tree man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he refused to pull his dirt bike over for a traffic stop, then led police on a chase through Yucca Valley at speeds over 90 milers per hour.

A deputy attempted to pull over Timothy Smith, 40, for multiple traffic violations, according to a release.

Smith did not pull over, instead leading police on a high speed chase for about 2.5 miles before crashing his motorcycle near La Contenta Road and Sunnyslope Drive.

Smith was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for felony evading.
