Dirt bike rider arrested after leading police on ‘dangerous’ pursuit through Twentynine Palms

A 21-year-old Twentynine Palms Man was taken into custody on Wednesday after police say he led them on a pursuit through Twentynine Palms while committing several dangerous violations on a dirt bike.

Deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station attempted to stop a dirt bike rider on Gorgonio Drive, near Ocotillo Avenue about 8:30 am, according to a news release from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department.

Police say that the rider failed to yield and committed “several dangerous vehicle code violations in an attempt to evade deputies, including speeding through residential areas, running stop signs, and driving on the sidewalk.”

The pursuit eventually came to an end and deputies took the rider of the dirt bike, Dakota Dyer, into custody as he attempted to flee on foot. Dyer was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held without bail for felony reckless evading.
