Desert Hot Springs Police searching for couple who abandoned dogs

Police are looking for a man and woman who who they say abandoned two dogs in front of the Desert Hot Springs Animal Care and Control Office on Thursday night.

The facility has a sign that warns people that dropping off pets there is a crime – but that didn’t stop the pair from creating a makeshift kennel and leaving the two dogs, which appear to be pit bulls.

The dogs later escaped the kennel and are now loose. The public is warned to be wary if they are encountered as their demeanor is not known.

Surveillance video of the incident can be seen over at  KESQ,

Desert Hot Springs Police officials and Desert Hot Springs Animal Control officers are currently searching for the dogs.
