Desert Hot Springs man arrested on suspicion of December murder at illegal gambling operation

A 43-year-old Desert Hot Springs man was arrested on Thursday in connection with a shooting that left one dead at an illegal gambling operation in the city.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department announced that James Angel was arrested and booked into the Indio Jail, according to the Desert Sun.  The shooting took place on Pierson Boulevard on December 11.

One person was shot and died in the hospital three days after the incident.

Three weeks ago, police spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one involved in the shooting.   The man in the vehicle allegedly shot at a detective before a vehicle pursuit, according to police.
