Police found more than 1,200 guns and what they believe to be two tons of ammo at a home in an upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood on Friday.

Cops received a report of a decomposing body found in an SUV on Friday. Officers then served a search warrant on the man’s home, which was on the same street,  they found the arsenal.

It was a “staggering number of guns,” LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith told The LA Times. “Our truck couldn’t carry it all.  We had to go back and make another trip.”

Police are trying now to determine is the guns were owned legally and if any are connected to a crime.

“The boxes of ammunition were out behind the garage and they were just lots of them, piled at least 8-feet tall, and the pile just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger,” neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told KNBC.

The neighbor said the man claimed to be affiliated with the CIA and the military.
