So the sudden drop in new cases reported over the last couple of days may or may not be real. I'll give it one more day. On Friday, most likely, I'll publish a chart as usual, but with caveats.
And, yes, the Coachella Valley passed the 10,000-case mark today.

Researchers believe that some people who haven’t had COVID-19 might have some immunity. It has to do with T cells, which are part of the immune system and help protect the body from infection. A recently conducted survey found 35% of people with T cells reactive to the virus. Those people may have had some previous experience with their immune system fighting a similar infection and may use that “memory” to help fight a new infection
You have probably noticed that it is hot af in the Coachella Valley these days. Due to the heat, the Indio testing facility will be closing early for a while:
UPDATE: Due to extremely hot weather, our testing site in Indio, located at 46350 Arabia St., will close at 10 a.m. today (July 30) through Saturday (Aug. 1). #RivCoNOW #RUHealth pic.twitter.com/DJRzpgCURR

The City of Palm Desert will offer limited number of drive-up COVID-19 testing appointments between 6:30 am and 9:30 pm on August 6 and August 20 and on September 3 and September 17. To schedule an appointment, you can call Borrego Community Health Foundation at (833) 624-1097.
A small group of people are holding a party / rally with a band and no masks or social distancing required this evening. Where you ask? Well, in the Coachella Valley’s own little Florida, aka Palm Desert. Organizers say the event is “pro-American” and “pro-police,” and I think we can throw a “pro-ignorance” in there as well.
Donald Trump continues to say, day after day, that opening up schools and colleges is perfectly safe. He continued saying that again today:

The latest chain to file bankruptcy during the pandemic has a pretty good BBQ chicken pizza. No word on how this will affect the Palm Desert location.
Expect financial restructuring, the closure of multiple locations, and an uncertain few years for LA-based chain CPK https://t.co/uUyXbx2D4v

And while he finds schools to be perfectly fine to reopen, Trump tweeted the election should possibly be delayed due to mail-in-ballots during the pandemic:
With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???

The Trump Administration announced they will spend a whopping $27 million to encourage those who have been infected with COVID-19 to donate plasma:
Today, President @realDonaldTrump launched a $27 million dollar National Awareness campaign to encourage Americans recovered from the Coronavirus to donate plasma. We’re in this together and we will get through as Nation!
— Mike Pence (@Mike_Pence) July 30, 2020
At the same time, many who already are willing and able to do so, are being told they can’t:
TV host Andy Cohen said he's disappointed that — even though he's tested positive for "robust" Covid-19 antibodies — he isn't allowed to potentially help coronavirus patients by donating plasma because he's a gay man https://t.co/I3JMVed7zh
