As of 1 pm Saturday, Riverside County officials have confirmed 1,431 people have tested positive for COVID-19.  There have been 41 confirmed deaths in the county.

As of 8 am Saturday, San Bernardino County has confirmed 810 cases of COVID-19.  There has been 25 deaths in San Bernardino County.

As of 1:05 pm Saturday, there have been 21,616 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in California.  There have been 604 confirmed deaths in the state.

The United States has now seen more deaths from COVID-19 than any other country:

The coronavirus is killing about 1 in 10 hospitalized middle-aged patients and 4 in 10 older than 85 in the United States.  It is also particularly lethal to men, according to previously unpublished data from a company that aggregates real-time patient data from 1,000 hospitals and 180,000 health care providers.

An experimental antiviral drug positioned as a potential treatment for COVID-19 at Cedars-Sinai has shown encouraging results. The hospital’s director of epidemiology says improvement was observed in 68% of patients hospitalized with severe complications of COVID-19 who were treated with experimental antiviral drug remdesivir.

“When Mr. Trump finally agreed in mid-March to recommend social distancing across the country, effectively bringing much of the economy to a halt, he seemed shellshocked and deflated to some of his closest associates. One described him as “subdued” and “baffled” by how the crisis had played out. An economy that he had wagered his re-election on was suddenly in shambles.” – The New York Times reports on the repeated warnings given to President Trump as far back as January and his lack of attention or action.
