Cinemark has banned large bags from its theaters

Cinemark Theatres has announced a new bag policy it says will enhance safety and security for theatergoers but, let’s be honest here, is probably more about you sneaking in a six pack of beers and three pounds of popcorn.

Starting today (Feb. 22), the theater chain, with multiplexes in La Quinta and Rancho Mirage, will no longer permit bags or packages larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″, according to its website.

There will be an exception for medical bags and diaper bags.

Cinemark also notes that theater staff will also have the right to inspect all bags as you enter the theater. The theater chain does not offer a place to check in bags that do not fall in line with its policy.
