This time of year, you can’t escape Christmas music.  Sure, it puts shoppers into a festive mood – but as for employees, well they  might go a bit crazy hearing the same 30 songs over and over and over again.  So what are the top Christmas songs being played this year?

The company PlayNetwork works with 400 brands to create playlists for their stores. Surprisingly, this year, for the first time since 1994, they are not playing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” the most.  It is only the second most played song behind The Shins (which is not the track anyone would have guessed) this Holiday season.

Here are the top 20 songs you will hear played in stores this year, via Paste Magazine:

1) The Shins “Wonderful Christmastime”

2) Mariah Carey “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

3) Christina Aguilera “Christmas Time”

4) Waitresses “Christmas Wrapping”

5) Jack Johnson “Someday At Christmas”

6) Kelly Clarkson “Underneath The Tree”
7) Michael Buble “A Holly Jolly Christmas”
8) Bing Crosby “White Christmas”
9) Train “What Christmas Means To Me”
10) Ella Fitzgerald “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
11) Coldplay “Christmas Lights”
12) Jose Feliciano “Feliz Navidad”
13) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings “White Christmas”
14) Vince Guaraldi Trio “Christmas Time Is Here”
15) Sam Smith “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
16) Pentatonix “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)”
17) Paul McCartney “Wonderful Christmastime”
18) She & Him “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”
19) Elvis Presley “Blue Christmas”
20) Darlene Love “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”

There are a few surprises (The Waitresses at #4!) and a few classics that hopefully never go out of style (Bing Crosby).  Enjoy the music while it lasts as, in just a few weeks, it will be gone  until next season – well, except for one Coachella Valley radio station.
