Kitty Bitty, a 5-year-old cat that went missing in Georgia on the 4th of July, is headed home for Christmas after being found in Riverside.

The furry creature was found in a Pepsi delivery truck and turned over to Riverside County Animal Services after its cross country voyage.

Veterinary services team members examined and treated the cat for dehydration. The cat was also very skinny, a condition likely from lack of nutrition. No one is sure just how long the cat was in the truck or how it got in there (perhaps it just wanted to see the Festival of Lights?).

Authorities contacted Kitty Bitty’s owner in Pooler, Ga., near Savannah and now, 5 months later, Kitty Bitty is headed home.

” I can’t thank you enough for helping us get Kitty Bitty back to Savannah,” said the cat’s owner, Teresa Cameron. “My daughter has been telling me everyday since he’s been gone how much she misses him and wishes he would come back. She is over the moon that he has been found!”
