A man was arrested in Coachella after police say he led them on a brief car chase that ended when he struck another vehicle.

Deputies responded to a report of a restraining order violation near Laguna Lane and Capitola Avenue about 9 pm on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The caller told deputies her husband, Fernando Carrillo, was  “extremely intoxicated” and following her in his car around the city.  Deputies located Carrillo about two miles away near Avenue 48 and Grapefruit Boulevard and tried to contact him.

Police say Carrillo failed to stop for deputies and led them on a short pursuit on Grapefruit Boulevard which ended when he hit a car near the intersection at Avenue 49.

Carrillo, 40, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, evading deputies and violating the restraining order.

He was treated for a non-life threatening injury at the scene. The condition of the motorist in the other vehicle was not immediately known
