California teen admits to molesting at least 50 children

(Riverside Police Department)

An 18-year-old man in Riverside was arrested after he confessed to molesting more than 50 kids over several years.

Joseph Hayden Boston, told his mother that he had molested two boys, ages 4 and 8, in a motel, according to CBS News. She then went to Magnolia Avenue Police Station and turned her son in. She later picked up her son and took him to the police station, where he confessed.

Boston told officers that he “befriended” the two boys staying at Simply Home Inn & Suites. The children were allowed to go to the suspect’s room where the molestation occurred. A few hours later, Boston called his mother and told her what he had done.

After admitting to sexually assaulting the two little boys inside of his motel room, Boston confessed to police that he’d actually molested “upwards of 50 children,” police said in a news release. The abuse took place over eight years in various cities.

“This is going to affect not only the victims for a long time but also our detectives and officers involved in this — to hear someone just be very open about what they’ve done, and they’re only 18 themselves,” Officer Ryan Railsback, of the Riverside police, told ABC 7.

Boston was arrested and charged with counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10. His bail was set at $1 million.  He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had hired an attorney.

The two boys who Boston said he molested were taken into custody by the County of Riverside Child Protective Services.
