A Eureka, California gas station clerk was a bit surprised to see the dude who had just robbed the place a couple of hours earlier return and try to give back the money.

23-year-old Cyle Warren Abbott Jr. allegedly robbed the station a little after 6am on Sunday morning at gunpoint. Police say he stole cash and two bottles of beer.

A couple hours later, Abbott went back to the station, apologized and tried to give back the money – only the clerk was not having it. The employee called police to tell them the robber had returned. Abbott then allegedly waited in a restroom and surrendered when officers arrived.

Abbott apologized to the gas station employees and officers saying that he had a change of heart. He said that he had planned to use the stolen cash to skip town and “get a fresh start,” – but instead he was arrested on suspicion of robbery and violating his probation.
