Ahhh, August in Palm Springs. Not only is it the hottest month of the year, it can also be a hot and muggy mess (but, it’s a dry heat, amirite?). Since you won’t be going on a hike (seriously, though don’t hike when it’s this hot) or spending a ton of time in the pool (which at this point feels more like a hot bath), you might be looking for a concert or event to enjoy during the month which ends by kicking off Labor Day Weekend. Well, here’s what’s happening in the Palm Springs area in August.
Brad Paisley – August 2
The country music star will perform an 8pm set at The Show inside Agua Caliente Casino. The stop is a bit of a change from the rest of his summer tour through Southern California that also has him performing at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in Chula Vista and the Honda Center in Anaheim – which are both much larger venues. Tickets run $160 to $200.
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening – August 3
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening was formed in 2009 to pay tribute to Bonham’s father, legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who died in 1980. “It was meant to be part of my way of expressing my love for music and expressing myself with a tip of the hat to my father,” Bomham stated in a 2017 interview. Tickets are $29 to $59.
Cheech and Chong – August 4
The Grammy Award-winning comedy duo of Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong who shot to popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with their films and stand-up routines. They’ll be at The Show in Rancho Mirage and, yes, there are plenty of dispensaries nearby for you to visit pre-show. Admission is $40 to $60.
Craft Beer Weekend – August 4 & 5
It’s the seventh annual installment of Craft Beer Weekend at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club that takes place in August in Palm Springs. Saturday has a craft beer fest from noon to 5 and Sunday will see a beer brunch from 11 am to 1 pm. $35 gets you into the fest, $50 into the brunch, or $70 will get into both.
Splash House – August 10 – 12
Headliners for the second weekend of the 2018 Splash House include Louis The Child, Gorgon City, Gryffin (DJ Set), MK, Whethan, and Walker & Royce at the pool parties at The Renaissance, Riviera, and Saguaro hotels in Palm Springs. The After Hours at the Air Museum event will feature The Black Madonna, FISHER, & Mija. You can see the full lineup here. General admission to the pool parties start at $135. Idyllwild Jazz in the Pines – August 11 – 12
A nice way to cool off during August in Palm Springs, is to take the short drive up Highway 74 for the 25th annual Jazz in the Pines Festival takes place over two days in the small mountain town and features over two dozen bands (plus it gives you a chance to visit the town’s very cool brewpub). Performers include The Graham Dechter Quartet, Evan Christopher Clarinet Road, and Casey Abrams. One-day passes are $85. Two-day tickets are $150. All proceeds from the festival benefit Idyllwild Arts.
Roger Daltry – August 18
The singer and founder of the iconic rock band The Who, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Roger Daltry rolls into Indio for a solo show at The Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Tickets are priced at $69 to $129.
Steve Martin and Martin Short – August 24
Steve Martin & Martin Short present “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life” at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa. In this special performance, Martin and Short will present new material in a variety of musical sketches and conversations on their iconic careers, most memorable encounters, and of course, their legendary lives in show-business and stand-up. Admission is $130 to $160.
The Jacksons – August 25
After forming in the mid-60’s, The Jacksons, five brothers from Gary, Indiana, became one of the biggest and most popular groups in the history of music with chart toppers like “I Want You Back”, “ABC”, and “I’ll Be There.” The Jackson 5 made history in 1970 as the first recording act whose first four singles reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They ultimately scored 17 Top 40 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 with hits such as “Never Can Say Goodbye” and “Dancing Machine.” Tickets are $39 to $79.
Comic Con Palm Springs – August 24 – 26
Comic Con Palm Springs returns this August in Palm Springs and promises over 500 exhibitors at its new location at the Palm Springs Air Museum in 2018. Artists, creators, celebrities, cosplayers, and more will be on hand as the event will play host to the Palm Springs International Animation Festival, a zombie / cosplay walk, geek fest, lego room, nightly concerts and more. There are a ton of different ticket packages, which start at $15.

Peter Frampton – August 31
The man behind one of the biggest live albums in history kicks off the weekend with an 8 pm concert on Friday at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Tickets run $29 – $69.
Dive-In Movie: Grease – August 31
ARRIVE hotel in Palm Springs presents Grease as part of their Dive-in Movie series. The 21 and over event is for hotel guests and non-guests who can take a dip in the pool, have a drink or two, and watch John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in “Grease” – it’s the word, have you heard? The movie starts at 7:30pm (sunset) on Friday, August 31 and you might want to arrive early to grab a seat or a float in the pool.
Red Tails at the Palm Springs Air Museum – August 31
Watch “Red Tails” on their huge digital screen in a fully air-conditioned hangar and meet Lt. Col. Bob Friend – the oldest living Tuskegee Airmen of the famed Red Tails of World War II – after the flick. The museum will also have their World War II Red Tails P-51 Mustang “Bunny” on display to close out the month of August in Palm Springs. $5 to get in. Doors open at 6:00 on Friday, August 31. The movie starts at 7:00.
