I was hesitant about getting an Amazon Echo as, at first, it seemed like a lot of hype and I already had a pretty decent Bluetooth speaker in my house that worked great in linking up with my Spotify on my phone and laptop. Over the Holidays, I relented and grabbed the Alexa speaker as it was one sale and, after using it in my home over the past three months, I can’t believe that I ever lived without it.
Seriously, this thing is pretty dope. The Amazon Echo answers all my dumb questions (she’s always there when I need to convert ounces to cups when I am cooking), easily pulls up my Spotify playlists and iHeartRadio stations, and has some pretty great games (if you like trivia, grab the buttons – which are great for family nights or game night with your friends). I also love that Alexa is always there to serve as my personal assistant. She takes notes, schedules appointments, serves as a great speakerphone, and it’s easy to set reminders for all the stuff that you normally forget (she saved me just yesterday from missing my dentist appointment).
The wife and I dug the Echo so much, we ended up adding a couple of Echo Dots for the bedroom and bathroom – which easily synced up to the main Alexa and now we can play the same music throughout the house or use them as intercoms when we are being super lazy and want to chat to each other from another room.
Right now Amazon has a cool sale going on that will get you $20 off when you grab an Alexa and a Dot – which means you get both for under $130.
