The Aluminaire House – a tiny, aluminum house that should not get insanely hot in the summer time – arrived in the Coachella Valley in pieces in the trailer of a big rig this week. To celebrate, officials had a ceremony in front of the truck it came in on – you know, the same way you celebrate when you buy an IKEA table, bring it home, but don’t assemble it.

“It’s arrived in Palm Springs, which makes it a fait accompli. Because all we have to do now is put it together,” Tracy Conrad, said one of the organizers to get the Aluminaire House in Palm Springs.

Which seems like the more appropriate time to have a ceremony.
