Tonight is going to be a gusty one, but the wind is bringing cooler temps to the desert

Strong winds are in store for the Coachella Valley as the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory beginning at 5 p.m. today – with gusts of 60 miles per hour possible in some areas.

According to the advisory, the winds will die down on Saturday – but, as for tonight, Local 2 weather guesser Jeff Forgeron is expecting winds strong enough that ALL-CAPS was necessary:

Forgeron expects the strongest winds to be near the freeway, as per the usual, so if your travels take you that way – drive with caution as the winds are bad enough, but the dust…oh the dust can be awful.

And as bad as the winds will be, it will cool things off for the week considerably – with highs only in the low to mid 80s – which is unbelievable for this time of year.
