A gigantic potato will make a stop into Cathedral City on March 21st as part of a marketing campaign to get people to eat more potatoes. Sure, the average American eats more than 30 pounds of french fries per year – but, clearly, that is just not enough for Idaho farmers slinging the starchy tuber.

The Famous Idaho Potato Tour will make a stop as part of some sort of “tour” at the Outdoor Resort on Ramon Road in Cathedral City on March 21, reports The Desert Sun.

We're in #chubbuck today hanging out with #ronaldmcdonald! Come on down and indulge in some #frenchfries

The newspaper notes that he Idaho Potato Commission takes the enormous spud around the country to promote the state’s famous crop and even uses the giant fake potato to work with charities.

No word if any of those charities raises awareness for obesity or diabetes.
