Harry Pedersen, 79 of Leduc, was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m. reports the Desert Sun. Police say Pedersen was walking north across East Palm Canyon between Deepwell and Arguilla roads — near Elmer’s Restaurant — when he was hit by a Toyota Camry that was heading west.

Pedersen died at the scene, according to police. The female driver of the Toyota Camry was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, reports KESQ.

According to police, the man was not using a crosswalk.
