5 Things to Know: Tuesday, November 3 ??

Welcome to 5 Things to Know – a daily rundown of things you might want to be aware of if you live in, visit, or just like being aware about what’s going on in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. As always, thank you for your continued support of Cactus Hugs.

1) The Election

It’s Election Day…or, as the local news calls it:

Polls will remain open in California until 8pm and you can even register and vote today.  Here are the details on that:

If you are looking for county election results, you can grab those here.

2) The Coronavirus

Riverside County reported 487 new cases and 2 additional deaths on Tuesday. There have been 1,324 reported deaths from coronavirus this year in Riverside County.

Here is the latest on what’s going on in the desert:

More:

  • Hospitalizations have increased 63% in Riverside County since a low in September,
  • According to a new study, “T-cell” immunity against Covid-19 is likely to be present within most adults six months after primary infection.

3) 23-year-old dies in DHS crash

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a 5-vehicle in Desert Hot Springs on Monday. Raul Silva-Chavez, 23, of Cathedral City, was in a Nissan 350Z that drifted into the opposite lanes of traffic on Palm Drive near 20th Avenue at about 12:15 pm.  There were no other major reported injuries.

4) The Christmas music is coming

LA’s Coast 103.5 announced they will begin playing wall-to-wall Christmas music beginning on Thursday.  Now, normally, we might all be screaming how this is too early, but 2020 has…oh what are the words I’m searching for?….sucked hard, so let’s do this and just enjoy the Holiday Season as best we can, as long as we can.

5) A special drink recipe for you

Whether you are celebrating or, ummm, not celebrating tonight, you may be need a drink or two.

Here’s my all-time favorite cocktail recipe just for you:

  1. Place a couple of ice cubes in a rocks glass.
  2. Pour in a shot or two of some really tasty whiskey.
  3. Enjoy.

Have a nice night.  It’s probably going to be a long one. Cheers. ?
