5 Things to Do This Weekend (That Are Not Coachella)

Weekend Two of The Coachella Music & Arts Festival is underway in Indio and you are not there. That is not entirely a bad thing. For one, you are $375 richer than if you did (that doesn’t even count the $10 beers) -and two, that opens up your schedule for other options:

Kidchella

dj lance rock

DJ Lance Rock of Yo Gabba Gabba is the star attraction of ‘Kidchella Rokz’ (cool that there is something going on for kids, just not sure why we have to teach them to spell “rocks” incorrectly).  From 5 – 8:30pm, Clark’s Nutrition and Natural Foods Market, in Palm Desert will play host to family activities, music, animals from The Living Desert, and healthy snacks.

Kidchella Rocks Rokz is free to attend.

The Rock Yard

While seeing the real AC/DC at Coachella will set you back $375 a ticket, seeing Bonfire: A Tribute to AC/DC won’t cost you a thing.

The outdoor concert starts at 7pm for those 18 and over at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.  The Rock Yard is always free to attend.

Keith Sweat

keith sweat

Singer Keith Sweat takes his talents to Spotlight 29 on Saturday night.  Sweat had a huge string of hits in the 80’s and 90’s with “Make It Last Forever,” “I Want Her,” “Merry Go Round,” and “I’ll Give All My Love to You,” just to name a few.  Dude knows how to woo the ladies…so, if you bring a date, you are pretty much guaranteed to get some after the show, so you have that going for you.

Show starts at 8pm with tickets ranging from $30 to $45.

Moby

Moby

Musician Moby is in town, but is not playing any music. The artist will instead share his “thoughts, photography and architectural discoveries from his trips throughout the world” in a conversation with designer, Brad Dunning at The Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs.

Tickets are $25 for the 2pm event on Sunday

Game of Thrones

Jon-Snow-Game-Of-Thrones-1000x563

Who needs Drake when you have John Snow?  Episode 2 of the new season airs on HBO Sunday at 6pm PT and it will, once again, make Coachella goers very sad.
