5 Things to Do in Greater Palm Springs This Weekend

Father’s Day weekend is here and it is only going to be 1,000,000 degrees outside in The Coachella Valley. Maybe skip giving dad the new barbecue set and just toss him a cold beer instead? Also, here is what is happening this weekend in and around town:

Tim Allen

Buzz_Lightyear_out_of_the_box

Tim “The Tool Man” performs standup comedy Friday night at Morongo Casino Resort. Tickets run $65-$85 for the voice of Buzz Lightyear’s 9 p.m. show.

Gregg Allmangregg allman

One of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman kicked ass at Stagecoach earlier in the year and now returns to The Coachella Valley to play “Whippin’ Post”, “I’m No Angel”, and more at Spotlight 29 Friday at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $35, $45, and $55.

Tap Takeover

Old Rasputin

Hailing from Fort Bragg, California, North Coast Brewing Company is probably best known for their Old Rasputin Imperial Stout – but they have other tasty craft brews as well.  You will have a chance to try them as North Coast is taking over the tap handles at The Tap-In Room at Whole Foods in Palm Desert all day Friday.  $5 beers plus a $5 tasting menu all day in the bar – which is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

AF1

Air Force One

President Obama is coming back to The Coachella Valley yet again and while he is not coming out to see you (unless you own a nice private golf course), you can sneak a peak (and some pics) of his ride while it is parked at PSP.  The President is slated to arrive about 11am on Saturday and leave sometime on Sunday.  Air Force One is normally parked on the southwest side of the airport.

Rock Yard

This week’s free Rock Yard show features Green Today, who will be playing all of Green Day’s hits. The Rock Yard is always free and gets started on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
