5 things to do in Greater Palm Springs this weekend

Here is it is, my friend. You have made it to another weekend and this one has plenty of things going on in the Greater Palm Springs area including the circus, a butterfly festival, and America’s most popular prop comic.

Here are five things to check out.

The Freakin’ Circus – Thurs. to Mon.

The big top is back…Circus Vargas, Circus Vargas. And now that we all have that jingle stuck in our head, we might as well head out to the show, which will be held in the parking lot of Westfield Palm Desert. The current theme is “Dreaming of Pirates!” – and features trapeze artists, clowns, daredevils, death-defying acrobats, jugglers, contortionists, comedians, motorcycles and more. Tickets start at $25 on the official site, but you can get them for much cheaper at Goldstar.

Carrot Top – Saturday

The comedian is packing up his what I can only assume is 4,000 suitcases full of props and heading into Spotlight 29 Casino. Tickets start at $25.

Butterfly Block Party – Saturday

Ain’t no party like a Butterfly Block party cuz a Butterfly Block Party is free.  Desert Water is putting on the event that your kids are going to love because kids loves butterflies (and admit it, you do to).  They’ll have a butterfly garden, music, food, and more.

Blue Oyster Cult – Sunday

They’re burnin’, they’re burnin’, they’re burnin’…for, of all people, you!  The infamous cowbell band is playing a free show in Rancho Mirage on Sunday as part of the city’s Spring concert series.  It’s open seating, so get there early for the best seats.

Check Out the New Observatory – Sunday

(Facebook)

The new Rancho Mirage Observatory is opening up to the public on Sunday from 2 to 4pm. The Facebook event page doesn’t have much info about the event, but the new facility looks dope and it’s free to go on Sunday – so, you might want to check it out.

Have a great weekend!
