5 things to do in Greater Palm Springs this weekend

The weekend is here and the next couple of days are going to actually feel like winter with a storm system pushing through Southern California.  Should you decide to get out from under your blanket and turn off the Netflix, you may want to go out.  Well, if you do, here are five of the best things going on in the Greater Palm Springs Area this weekend.

Huey Lewis / Goo Goo Dolls / Boring Golf – Friday -Sunday

Sure. There’s golf.  But, if you have seen the commercials, the tourney is really pushing the concerts as watching golf in person can be sdsldsdfsdsasdasas – oh, sorry, just thinking about it made me doze off and pass out on my keyboard.

This year has two concerts during the event with Huey Lewis and the News performing for your dad on Friday and Goo Goo Dolls for your mom on Saturday.  A one day ticket will run you $30 a day with other options available for multiple days at a higher price.

Michael Bolton – Friday

He said he loved you…BUT HE LIED!!! But that’s okay, because it’s more than love he feels inside.  The singer takes the stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center Saturday night at 8pm.  Tickets are $29 to $59.

Art Laboe Presents Latin Jam II – Saturday

The longtime radio host brings Exposé, MC Magic, and the Thee Midniters with Little Willie G. to the Spa Resort Casino’s outdoor stage in Palm Springs for a 7:30 pm show. Tickets run $45 – $55.

Felipe Esparza – Saturday

The two-time winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” comes to the Spotlight 29 Showroom Saturday night – with tickets setting you back $20 to $35.

Motown: The Musical

The McCallum Theatre plays host to the story of Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul.  Gordy launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, and Smokey Robinson, to name a few and this musical features classic songs like “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”  As of Friday, most of the performances were sold out (Saturday night still had tickets) – though you can find tickets for every performance on Stub Hub.
