5 (More) Fast Food Joints That Need to Be in The Coachella Valley Now!

In July of 2014, Cactus Hugs put out a list of fast food restaurants we need in Palm Springs – and great news!  20% of those restaurants are now working to open a location in The Coachella Valley!  Sure, it was just one out of 5…but, that is better than nothing!

Well, hopefully by putting this list out of some awesome fast food joints you will find elsewhere, by 2016 we will be welcoming one or more to The Desert.

Shake Shack

shake shack

Starting as a simple food cart inside New York’s Madison Square Park in 2000, Shake Shack has grown into a chain of restaurants offering up New York-style hamburgers, hotdogs, fries and its namesake milkshakes. If you get a chance to try the Smoke Shack Burger, you do it! It is fantastic!

Potbelly Sandwich Shop

potbelly

Potbelly started out in Chicago in 1977 and now has locations in 23 states – but somehow, not one of those states is California. The joint serves up warm, toasted sandwiches, salads, soups, and more.

Location nearest Palm Springs: Phoenix, AZ

Papa Murphy’s Take N’Bake Pizza

papa murphys

Papa Murphy’s is not your standard restaurant as they make you do the actual cooking. Customers order their pizza in the store, then take it home to bake it (hence Take N’ Bake in the name).  Options range from your standard pepperoni to a “5 meat stuffed” pie.

Location nearest Palm Springs: Banning (so close!!)

Jason’s Deli

jason-s-deli

Now this will probably surprise you, Jason’s Deli offers a deli-style menu.  What will not surprise you is the that Jason’s Deli was founded by a guy not named Jason.  They have sandwiches, salads and soups – and for those who are particularly health conscious, they haev eliminated trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and MSG from all of its food.

Location nearest Palm Springs: Riverside

Umami Burger

Umami-Burger

Umami Burger makes the list even though it is not traditional “fast food”.  You sit to order and most of their locations have a bar (not a bad thing).  The menu is pretty creative and pretty delicious.  The first location was opened in LA in 2009 and already expanded to 24 locations mostly around SoCal…but not in Palm Springs for some reason.
