Twenty people were injured – six seriously – after a shuttle bus they were on flipped over on Highway 330 Sunday afternoon.

The bus overturned while driving down the mountain, according to The Press Enterprise:

The bus was traveling too fast, causing the brakes to overheat and the bus to eventually overturn as it headed south down the mountain, said Jeremy Kern of the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

At one point, there was contact between the front of the 2000 El Dorado bus and a 2013 Nissan Versa before the bus overturned at 2:11 p.m., said Juan Quintero with the CHP.

Of the bus’s 22 passengers, 20 were taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals – with 6 sustaining major but not life-threatening injuries. No one in the Versa was hurt.

The newspaper noted that signs on the bus indicated it belongs to Iglesia de Cristo Ministerios Llamada Final, a church in Downey.
