3 arrested after police pursuit ends in crash in Palm Springs

Three men were taken into custody on Wednesday after a police pursuit that ended in a collision in Palm Springs.

An officer spotted a vehicle about 3 pm near Ramon Road Gene Autry Trail. Police say that driver was wanted on suspicion of being involved in an assault with a firearm, driving a stolen vehicle, and leading officers on a pursuit.

Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and led police on a pursuit north on Gene Autry, according to the Desert Sun. The driver did not stop at a red light at Artisan Way and collided with at least two cars.

The driver and two other men fled on foot, but where found by police a short time later. Luis Ortiz, a 24-year-old Cathedral City man, was arrested on suspicion of a parole violation, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, evading police officers and multiple other charges.

Juan Antonio Reyes Jr., 18 of Cathedral City, was arrested on suspicion of resisting, obstructing a police officer and possession of a loaded gun.

A juvenile male was also arrested on suspicion of resisting, obstructing a police officer and possession of a loaded handgun.

At least one passenger in another vehicle was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries and condition is not known.
