2 arrested after 900 marijuana plants, 250 lbs of processed weed found at San Jacinto home

Two people were arrested on Saturday after police say the found 900 marijuana plants at an illegal weed grow at a San Jacinto home.

Deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at a home on Loreto Street Saturday morning regarding an illegal indoor marijuana grow house, according to a media release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

During the warrant service, deputies located twelve makeshift grow rooms and 900 marijuana plants at various stages of growth. In addition, police say they found 250 pounds of processed marijuana, packaging, digital scales, 2 fans, 30 lights and 41 ballast.

Guiyu Luo, a 40-year-old resident of Rowland Heights was detained without incident. Ying Zhu, a 47-year-old resident of Rowland Heights ran inside the residence and hid in the attic. SWAT and K9 teams responded and located the subject in a small crawl space, he was taken into custody without further incident.

California Edison responded and located an illegal electrical by-pass underneath the electrical meter. The estimated theft of utilities is $180,000.

Both Zhu and Luo were later booked for maintaining a drug house, theft of utilities, marijuana cultivation and marijuana sales.
