18-year-old arrested for armed robbery in Thousand Palms

An 18-year-old Thermal man was arrested for armed robbery that police say took place in Thousand Palms on Thursday.

Four masked men robbed an adult male of his wallet at gunpoint at an undisclosed location in Thousand Palms about 3:15 pm, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force with the assistance of the Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit investigated and located one of the suspects in the area of Avenue 50 and Jackson Street in Indio during which time the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as Pete Collins of Thermal. Gang Task Force Officers served a search warrant for Collins’ vehicle and his residence located in the 83000 block of Avenue 50 in the unincorporated community of Thermal. During the service of the search warrant Task Force Officers located evidence related to the robbery.

Collins was charged with Robbery and booked at the Indio Jail.
